Used 1979 Ovation Viper III Electric Guitar - Nutmeg
*Free Shipping
Every guitar from David’s Guitar Loft is professionally set up for optimal playability — 10–46 strings on electrics and 12–53 on acoustics. Want it your way? We’ll customize the setup, strings, and tuning to your exact preference before it ships. *Set up form will pop up after guitar is added to cart!
The 1979 Ovation Viper III is a rare American-made electric guitar from one of the more distinctive chapters in Ovation’s history. Finished in Nutmeg, this vintage Viper III features a 2-piece ash body paired with a maple neck and maple fingerboard, offering a solid, articulate feel with the unmistakable look of a late-1970s Ovation electric.
A trio of Ovation single-coil pickups provides a wide range of tones, with individual on/off switches allowing each pickup to be activated independently for a variety of pickup combinations. The straightforward master volume and master tone controls keep the layout intuitive, while the 25.5” scale length, 10” fingerboard radius, and 24 frets give the Viper III a versatile playing platform.
With its unusual electronics, distinctive Ovation design, and increasingly hard-to-find status, this 1979 Viper III is an excellent piece for vintage guitar collectors and players looking for something truly one of a kind. The original hardshell case is included.
